CREWE resident Allan Whatley has celebrated his 103rd birthday.
He was surrounded by family, friends at a celebration last week along with staff at Home Instead Senior Care where he has lived for the past year.
Allan was raised in Birmingham where he worked in a library before becoming a senior lecturer in librarianship at Strathclyde University.
When he retired, he moved to Nantwich where he became a local historian.
Allan is also a published author and is very proud of the book he wrote called Whiskey the Left Handed Dog.
The book is available to purchase on Amazon.
Allan has two children, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren and gets to visit with them often.
Geraldine Fraser, care manager, brought Allan a cake to celebrate the monumental occasion.
She said: "In his spare time, Allan enjoys reading, local history, wildlife, and maps and he is a dedicated vegetarian.
"Home Instead Senior Care provides home care which is tailored to the individual needs of each client.
"Services, which typically include companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and personal care are provided by devoted CAREGivers who spend a minimum of an hour and often longer, on each visit with their client."
