THE Nantwich care home of dementia sufferer Roy Tomlinson – who was found dead after a week-long search – is being investigated following allegations of neglect.

Two members of staff from Brookfield House in Shrewbridge Road have been suspended while Cheshire Police and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) investigate the claims.

A police spokesman confirmed that ‘part of the investigation will be looking into the disappearance of two people’.

One of those is Mr Tomlinson, who went missing in January, and another is a more recent incident where the missing person was found safe and well.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “We can confirm that we are currently investigating allegations of neglect in relation to a Nantwich care home.

“The investigation, which is being run in partnership with the Care Quality Commission, is currently in its early stages and enquiries are on-going.”

Debbie Westhead, CQC deputy chief inspector of adult social care in the north, said ‘inspections were carried out in February and April and we will publish an inspection report in due course’.

“CQC can confirm that it is aware of allegations of neglect in respect of a Nantwich care home – Brookfield House,” she said.

“We are monitoring the situation very closely and continue to support an investigation that is currently being led by Cheshire Constabulary.”

Mr Tomlinson, 83, was reported missing on January 26 after leaving Brookfield House.

His body was discovered in the outbuilding of a house in Wellington Road, Nantwich, following a week-long search.

Jayantilal Patel, owner of Astley Care Homes Ltd, which run Brookfield House, confirmed two staff members are on a temporary suspension following the latest incident of a resident going missing.

He said: “We take the safety and security of all our residents very seriously and we will be working to understand what has happened in this incidence.

“It would be inappropriate to comment in detail on an active investigation.

“However, I can confirm that we are working with the police and CQC and fully support their inquiries.

“Two members of Brookfield staff are on a temporary suspension, which is part of our normal procedure during an investigation.”
