STUDENTS in Crewe will be able to 'earn-while-you-learn' thanks to a new scheme.
Manchester Metropolitan University’s Cheshire Campus, which is based in Crewe, has launched the Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship.
Co-created by the Chartered Management Institute, Chartered Associated of Business Schools, MMU and employers, the government-supported degree combines academic learning and practical training.
Liz Gorb, enterprise development fellow at MMU, said: “With government funding and support from Manchester Metropolitan University, our Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship not only delivers degree-level employees, but also offers fantastic business return on investment for employers.
“Through our scheme, businesses can benefit from employees who are developed to degree-level, and are equipped with the right academic know-how and practical training in order for them to be a successful leader.”
MMU is one of only a select few institutions in the UK, and the only one in the north west, to offer the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship.
The scheme has been designed in the national context of radical change in the development of apprenticeships.
Employers are now able to balance the work and education of their future management team, with subjects covered in the scheme focusing on meeting the skills requirements of each organisation, and developing employees to their full business potential.
Liz said: “Employers will help determine the business projects delivered as part of the degree.
“The great thing is that both new and existing employees can take advantage of the funding.”
The Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship is available as a flexible study programme, and teaching will be delivered at Manchester Metropolitan University’s Cheshire Campus in Crewe.
Graduates will achieve a BA (Hons) Business Management Professional qualification, CMI Chartered Manager status and CMI membership.
MMU will hold an open evening at its Cheshire Campus on Thursday, June 30, from 5pm to 7pm.
