FAMILIES from across the region enjoyed a day of fun and excitement at South Cheshire College’s biggest-ever community day.

The Crewe-based college opened its doors for the event to provide entertainment and a chance for the local community to experience the outstanding facilities.

Visitors participated in activities for all ages including face painting, bouncy castle, climbing wall, airbrush tattoos, interactive computer games and science experiments.

Performances from X Academy Education in the College’s amphitheatre attracted spectators to admire the routine with the backdrop of the bustling campus.

Peppa Pig, Minnie Mouse and The TGA Martial Art’s Ninja Turtle made appearances, proving popular amongst the younger children.

Organised in partnership with A Vision for Crewe, this year’s Community Day saw a wide variety of organisations and businesses that the College continue to work with.

The Cat Community Radio Station, which is now based at South Cheshire College, provided music and announcements throughout the event, while Bentley Motors were impressing visitors with one of their luxury Crewe-manufactured cars.

Barbecued burgers, popcorn, freshly-baked pies and cakes were all prepared by the college’s Academy Restaurant and Deli team.

Gemma Thomas brought her four children who are currently attending Gainsborough Primary School and Tinks Nursery to the event.

Gemma, from Crewe, said: “It’s been a brilliant day. There have been plenty of things to do and all of my children especially loved the meerkats!

“My Mum has even been looking into courses while the children were busy, so there’s been something for us all.”

Marketing Manager Nicola Moore, who co-ordinated the day, said: “It’s been a hugely successful event which has really built on last year’s Community Day.

“We wanted to have a real variety to the activities this year which we achieved through children enjoying the bouncy castle at one end of the College and scaling the climbing wall at the other end.

“Many thanks to all of the community organisations that we continue to build relationships with for their support and to the families who came along on the day.”
