A NANTWICH-based sporting organisation has been given a boost after being awarded an industry recognised accreditation.

Sportscape, which has offices at Reaseheath College, are the first accredited 1st4Sport Centre in Cheshire to be able to deliver Level 2 and 3 Certificates in Supporting Learning and Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport.

The organisation celebrates its 12th anniversary this year, but is expanding its reputation into the Apprenticeship and Learner Loan route, offering young people, opportunities to learn and develop skills and aspirations, which will stay with them throughout their working lives.

Matthew Johnson, Sportscape’s managing director, said: “With the recent Government announcement that from September 2017, each Primary School, will receive double the amount for Primary PE and Sport Premium and with their continued commitment to physical education & school sport, we are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity, which is ideal for motivated young people who wish to pursue a career in Sports Coaching.”

The Association for Physical Education (afPE) recommend that xoaches who support curriculum time PE, employed in or by schools, should be qualified to a Level 2 National Governing Body Award, or should be working towards a Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport (or equivalent) to comply with the afPE Safe Practice Guidance for Schools.

If you are: a school wishing to take apprentices on; an individual (Teaching Assistant, Higher Level Teaching Assistant, Coach, Sports Development Officer, Volunteer, Sports Leader etc.) who is interested in enrolling on the Level 2 ‘Supporting the Delivery of PE & School Sports’ qualification; an existing (Level 2) Coach, who wants to enrol on a Level 3 Certificate in Supporting the Delivery of PE & School Sports; or a Sports Coaching Company who are interested in enrolling their existing staff on either of the qualifications, give Sportscape a call on 01270 627079 or email info@sportscape.org.
