THIS was the scene facing firefighters on the M6 northbound earlier this afternoon.
Emergency services were called around 2pm to the blaze between junction 18 and 19.
It is thought the van was being towed when it set alight but the cause of the flames is not yet known.
Motorists have been experiencing delays in the area but traffic is expected to return to normal by 5pm.
It is not thought anyone was injured.
