TEENAGERS flooded the former Crewe swimming baths after breaking in and attempting to fill the pool.

Cheshire Police initially attended the scene in Flag Lane just after 5pm on Sunday, July 10. Three fire engines later attended.

It was initially thought that there were chemicals present but firefighters confirmed there were none on the premises.

Cheshire Police confirmed the youths, who had fled the scene, may have been attempting to start fires in the building.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At approximately 5pm on Sunday, July 10, we were called following reports of a number of teenagers who had got into the swimming baths on Flag Land in Crew.

“They attempted to turn on the water.

“We attended the scene and an engineer was called out. The youths had made off on our arrival.

"It also appears as though they were trying to start fires in the building.”

Crewe Swimming Baths is no longer in public use since the opening of the Crewe Lifestyle Centre in April.
