FOUR men have been arrested after masked raiders robbed a jewellers in Nantwich.

Around 11.20am on Wednesday, July 27, police received a number of reports of a robbery taking place at a jewellers in Pillory Street in Nantwich.

Offenders wearing balaclavas forced a hole in the window and stole a number of watches before fleeing in a vehicle.

A car was found in Brine Road in Nantwich which had been set on fire. Cheshire Fire and Rescue attended to deal with the small fire.

Working with North West Motorway Group, Central Police Motorway Group, West Midlands Motorway Group and Staffordshire Police, a van travelling along the M6 was identified and followed.

Four men decamped from the van in the Staffordshire area and were arrested on suspicion of robbery.

Police are now appealing for witnesses.

Detective Inspector Alison Ross said: “There were a lot of people in the area of Pillory Street at the time the robbery took place.

“I’d like to thank those who have spoken to police already but I would ask anyone who has not yet spoken to us to contact us so we can progress with our enquiries.”
