A VAN crashed into a bridge on the M6 near Crewe this morning.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a collision between junctions 16 and 17 of the M6 northbound, between Crewe and Sandbach, at 6.23am this morning.

One casualty was treated by medical staff and all three lanes were closed while emergency services helped clear the motorway.

All lanes have now been reopened.

A fire service spokesman said: “A van collided with bridge on the M6 northbound, between Crewe and Sandbach. There was one casualty who was tended to by firefighters and ambulance staff.

“The crews helped police in clearing the motorway of debris and the contents of the van.

“All three lanes were closed while the incident was dealt with. Firefighters were at the scene for around one hour.”
