HEALTH and fitness writers were put through their paces at a sporting event in Nantwich.

Crewe porridge-makers Mornflake invited more than 20 of the country’s most influential bloggers to take on a gruelling boot camp in an oat field in Bridgemere, Nantwich.

The Oat Games, hosted by Mornflake with the help of fitness experts from the Crewe gym, CW1 Crossfit, highlighted the energy-boosting benefits of oats and their journey from farm to the bowl.

Hannah Smith, Mornflake brand manager, said: “We had a fantastic response with some of the country’s top bloggers and Instagrammers.

“Many were from London and escaped the hustle and bustle of the city to enjoy the picturesque setting. One even flew in from Aberdeen.

“Collectively they have over half a million followers which allowed us to deliver a very positive message about our Buy British policy which helps support the livelihood of hundreds of farmers up and down the country.

“It was a true reflection of their high-regard for Mornflake products and we were thrilled with the feedback on social media.”

Participants took on a variety of challenges on the course including pulling weights, jumping hay bales, swinging kettle bells and racing around a track through the oats.

Hannah added: “Staging the event allowed us to reach some of the country’s most influential healthy lifestyle writers and highlight just how much goes into bringing a bowl of porridge to the table.”

Mornflake is was founded in 1675 and is Britain’s fourth oldest family-owned company.

The Crewe firm employs more than 400 employees.
