HIGH flying pupils from The Oaks Academy in Crewe are celebrating some outstanding GCSE results today.

The school has improved GCSE results on previous years. A boost in English and Maths results has been recorded with Art, Media and RE also showing improvements.

The school, which became an academy under the Crewe Multi Academy Trust in January, has seen students achieve A*’s and A’s across a number of subjects.

Emma Hooley, The Oaks Academy head teacher, said: “I am inordinately proud of what some of the pupils have achieved.

“They have worked incredibly hard in what has been an important year for the school.”

There were a number of high flying teenagers this year.

Head Girl Lauren Freeman achieved six A*s and five As and will now be studying a combination of A Levels at South Cheshire College.

She said: “I am very pleased and relieved with my results. I didn’t expect to do as well as I did and want to thank the very supportive teachers at The Oaks Academy.

“I’m looking forward to continuing my studies at South Cheshire College and long term I hope to study at the University of Cambridge and in a creative job role.”

Patrick O’Brien gained four A*s and seven As and will now be heading to South Cheshire College to study A Levels in media, graphics, psychology and ICT.

He said: “I’m so pleased with my results. It shows that all of the hard work over the last three years and late night revision has paid off.

“I’ve had a good relationship with the teachers at The Oaks Academy and they’ve pushed me when I’ve needed it, which has helped me in getting these results.”
