A MAN who was murdered in Crewe died of a single stab wound to the chest, a post mortem has revealed.

The 51-year-old man, from Crewe, was found with serious injuries in a service area at the rear of a convenience store off Edleston Road on the morning of on Wednesday, August 31.

Police and paramedics attended the scene. He was taken to North Staffordshire Hospital, but died a short time later.

A Home Office Post Mortem has now concluded the cause of death was a single stab wound to the chest.

Two men, 19 and 20, both from Crewe, have been arrested and are being held on suspicions of murder.

A 46-year-old woman, also from Crewe, is being held on suspicion of assisting an offender.

All of the suspects are currently in custody helping officers with their enquiries.

Det Supt Jon Betts, from Cheshire Police Major Investigations Team, said: “I would like to reassure the public that this is an isolated incident.

“As part of my enquiries I urge anyone who was in the area around the time incident and believes that that may have any witnessed the incident to contact us on 101.”

“Officers from Crewe Local Policing Team will continue to patrol the local area throughout the weekend to provide reassurance to the local residents, and I urge anyone with any concerns to speak to an officer.”

A police cordon that was in place at the scene of the incident has now been lifted and Edleston Road has now reopened in both directions.
