THE body of a 38-year-old man has been found in the Valley Brook area of Crewe.

Cheshire Police were called to reports that a body had been found in Stewart Street at around 1pm on Friday, September 9.

Next of kin have been informed, although formal identification has not yet taken place.

The full circumstances surrounding the death are currently unknown, but police are treating the death as suspicious, with a Home Office post mortem expected to take place this weekend.

A 47-year-old Crewe man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in relation to the incident, and is currently in police custody assisting officers with their enquiries.

Superintendant Kevin Bennett said: "I would like to reassure local residents that at the current time this appears to be an isolated incident and is not believed to be linked to the death of a man in the Edleston Road area.

"There is currently an increased police presence in the local area to provide reassurance to the local community and I encourage anyone with any concerns to speak to an officer."
