THE death of a 38-year-old man in Crewe in no longer being treated as suspicious, police have confirmed.
Officers were called to the Stewart Street area of Crewe at 1pm on Friday, with reports that a body of a man had been found.
The body of a 38-year-old local man was found in the Valley Brook area, and next of kin were informed although formal identification has not yet taken place.
Following a thorough investigation including forensic analysis, house-to-house enquiries and CCTV, officers are now satisfied that the death is not suspicious.
A 44-year-old Crewe man who was arrested in relation to the incident has since been released without charge.
The death remains unexplained and enquiries are ongoing, while the results of a Home Office post mortem are due to be withheld for several weeks pending toxicology results.
Supt Kevin Bennett said: “We treat all reports of sudden death extremely seriously, and I would like to thank the local community for the support that they have provided throughout this investigation.”
“Our thoughts at the current time are with the family of the man, and we request for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time."
Anyone with information related to the incident should call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 418 of September 9, while information can also be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
