STORMTROOPERS, Jack Sparrow and Pikachu were among those present at the third ‘NanoCon’ comic-con event on Sunday.

Hundreds of sci-fi lovers and fans flooded to Nantwich Civic Hall on September 18, following on from previous events in May of this year and last November.

The main hall was turned into a collector’s dream, with stalls offering a host of collectable merchandise, hand-made goods and artwork.

Special guest Ross O’Hennessy, Lord of Bones in season five of Game of Thrones, was also on hand to meet fans, while Nantwich Police got involved and ‘arrested’ pirate outlaw Captain Jack Sparrow.

Characters posing for pictures included Star Wars villains Kylo Ren, Boba Fett and Darth Vader, as well as a Jawa and a host of Stormtroopers.

Batman, Captain America and Iron Man were also in attendance, along with a scale model of the Battlestar Galactica rag-tag fleet, handmade by Philip Cocking over three years.

Children and adults alike also joined in on the festivities, arriving in costumes including the Hulk, Wonder Woman and the Joker.

Cllr Andrew Martin, Nantwich town mayor, attended the event and told the Guardian: “This is the third event we have had at the Civic Hall, and each event has brought something different to the town.

“It’s enjoyed by small children as well as people who are much older. Everybody enjoys seeing the characters that turn up, whether it’s Stormtroopers, Captain Jack Sparrow or Daleks.

“It’s great fun and you have the opportunity to meet those people you have seen on the TV, from Star Wars to Game of Thrones, and pick their brains.

“I would like to see it continue – it’s a really fun event.”
