A LEADING dementia charity is providing Crewe and Nantwich residents with Alzheimer’s a boost.

Alzheimer’s Society Cheshire East is relaunching its Dementia Café in Crewe on Tuesday, October 11, at a new venue.

Poppies Café at the Cheshire Academy of Integrated Sports and Arts, in Broad Street, will be the new home for the popular group, with the venue being accessible on one level and with some on-site parking.

The Dementia Café provides a social environment for all people affected by the illness, and Alzheimer’s Society hopes the new setting will help attract more members.

Nantwich’s Dementia Café is also changing its date from the third Monday of each month to the fourth, so that members can better access the café and other local dementia services.

Jo Hawkins, Alzheimer’s Society operations manager for Cheshire and St Helens, said: “We hope that by relaunching our Dementia Cafés we will be able to reach out to more people affected by dementia.

“The cafés have a lovely, supportive and informal atmosphere where you can meet other people in your local community in a similar situation.

“Our dementia support worker Jeanette Booth and trained volunteers will also be on hand to welcome you and provide specialist advice.

“Why not come along for a cup of coffee and a chat and find out more?”

Jeanette will host the Crewe Dementia Café from 10am to 11.45am and the Nantwich café from 2pm until 4pm at the Almshouses, in Beam Street, from Monday, October 24.
