RESIDENTS affected by the high speed rail link through Crewe are being urged to complete Land Interest Questionnaires sent out in the post.

Working to inform residents of the information contained within the Hybrid Bill for Phase 2A, HS2 Limited have begun sending out the questionnaire to those affected by high speed rail link.

Liz Farrall, senior surveyor for chartered surveyors and specialist property consultants Fisher German, urged land-owners to have their say.

She revealed the firm recently managed to overturn a blight notice – a legal notice you can serve on the authority responsible for a development ordering them to purchase your property so you can move away.

Mrs Fararr said: “We have recently been successful with regard to a blight case in which the Secretary of State for Transport withdrew a counter-notice to a blight notice.

“In this case the property was dissected by a road. Such scenarios will in all likelihood occur again on the HS2 scheme and this decision will no doubt set a precedent and assist those similarly affected.”

Last month, the high speed rail network moved a step closer as HS2 Limited published the HS2 Phase 2A (West Midlands to Crewe) Working Draft Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Report.

The draft provides environmental information based on the design of the Phase 2A scheme to date and will inform part of the Phase 2a Hybrid Bill to be deposited into Parliament next year.

The report consists of three parts covering introduction and methodology, area reports and route-wide effects together with plans and profile maps.

HS2 Limited will hold various public meetings along the route of Phase 2A where residents will be able to engage in one-to-one discussions with engineers and other HS2 Ltd representatives.

The consultation periods for the draft EIA and also the Design Refinement Consultation run until 11.45pm on November 7, 2016.
