A 44-YEAR-OLD man has suffered ‘serious facial injuries’ after being set upon by thugs in Crewe.

At approximately 11.00pm on Saturday 8 October the victim, a 44-year-old man from Chester, was walking along Nantwich Road with two friends.

As the trio walked between the train station and Gresty Road, they were approached by a group of people who began to attack the victim, causing him to sustain serious facial injuries.

The victim was taken to hospital and was later discharged. He will require on-going treatment.

Officers are appealing for information following the attack.

Investigating Officer Liz Rankin said: “As a result of this assault the victim has suffered serious facial injuries, including a fractured eye socket, which will require ongoing hospital treatment.

“We are currently following a number of lines of enquiry, and as part of my investigation I urge anyone with any information in relation to this incident to contact the team here at Crewe so the offender can be brought to justice.”
