A MAN had to be rescued by firefighters late last night after falling into the river by Welsh Row in Nantwich.
Emergency services were called at 1.27am with reports that a man had fallen into the river.
Two fire engines and a rescue boat from Chester, one fire engine and a technical response unit from Knutsford, and one fire engine from Whitchurch were all sent to the scene.
When the fire crews arrived at the incident, they found a man stuck on an embankment under a bridge around five meters down.
Firefighters used a seven meter ladder to rescue the man from the embankment.
