A WILLASTON man has died following a collision with a HGV in Barthomley.

Police are investigating a serious collision on the A500 in Barthomley, which occurred at around 5.37am on Monday, November 7.

A van and a HGV collided at this time resulting in fatal injuries to the driver of the van.

The van driver, a 31-year-old man, was taken to Royal Stoke Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

He died some time later.

The driver of the HGV was taken to Leighton Hospital with injuries that are believed to be minor.

The A500 was closed at its junction with the M6 junction 16 while emergency services work at the scene and has since reopened.

An appeal has now been launched following the collision.
