AN ‘outstanding young man’ who died following a collision with a HGV in Barthomley has been named as Neil Dey.

The 31-year-old, from Willaston, died after his van collided with a HGV in on the A500 at about 5.37am Monday 7.

He was taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries but died sometime later.

The driver of the HGV was taken to Leighton Hospital with injuries that are believed to be minor.

In a heartfelt statement released today, Neil’s family said: “Neil was an outstanding young man.

“We know how much he loved Eadaoin (his fiancée), and his family.

"We know how much he was loved. We will miss him always.”

An appeal has now been launched following the collision.
