A FORMER bus driver from Crewe is preparing for his dream Christmas after scooping £6.1 million on the Lotto.

Kevin Jones, from Crewe, won the £6,162,138 Lotto jackpot in May this year.

The win came just years after Kevin and his family lost everything after starting a new life in Spain.

Kevin, who is married to Michele, said: “It may seem crazy but I actually still cannot quite believe – seven months on – what has happened to me and my family.

“I said to Michele the other day – what would you like for Christmas because you really can have absolutely anything you like this year – price doesn’t matter “It seems strange to say that knowing it is so true and we actually can buy whatever we want.”

This year, the Jones’ have bought a giant Christmas tree for their front garden and decorated it with special illuminated giant Lotto baubles that represent their winning numbers: 1, 3, 28, 34, 37 and 46.

Kevin said: “I couldn’t think of anything better – this is just the perfect way to celebrate Christmas.

“Every time we look out of our front window we have a constant reminder of the most wonderful day of our lives and when our lives changed for ever."

Kevin is able to spend more time with his two children, Andrew and Lorraine and grandson, Joshua, as this year will also be the first year he hasn’t had to work.

Even after scooping the jackpot Kevin, who worked for D & G Bus Company, returned to work at 5am the following morning because he didn’t want to let his regular customers down.

But 24-hours later he handed in his notice to bosses allowing him to fully enjoy his win and spend valuable time with his family.

Kevin said: “Since that day Michele and I really have been living the dream.

“We have moved to a new house we never believed we would ever own and we are now so excited about making this Christmas the best ever for all of our family and friends.”
