HS2 is to hold community information events in Crewe and Wincham to support the public consultation that is under way on the Phase 2b section of the route between Crewe and Manchester.
The Government announced its preferred route for the proposed High Speed Two (HS2) railway on November 15, 2016.
It is consulting on the property compensation and assistance schemes being proposed for people affected by the plans, and on the seven substantial changes being proposed to the route.
The proposed substantial change in the Northwich and Middlewich area is to change the route to avoid existing infrastructure and to minimise the risk of subsidence.
Proposals also include building a rolling stock depot in Wimboldsley.
An information event will be held at Crewe Alexandra Football Club in Gresty Road, Crewe, on Thursday, January 5, from noon to 8pm.
A further event will be held at Wincham Hall Hotel in Hall Lane, Wincham, on Friday, January 6, from noon to 8pm.
Paul Griffiths, HS2’s Phase 2b development director said: “The information events are an important part of the consultation process and I actively encourage people to come along and ask questions.
“We are committed to working with local communities as we develop the HS2 route and are putting on these events to help people understand the project in more detail, so they can submit an informed response to the consultations.”
The information event is designed to help address queries from communities about the Phase 2b property consultation, the Phase 2b route refinement consultation and how the route proposals may affect them personally.
Attendance is on a drop-in basis, and there is no requirement to book an appointment.
