WARRINGTON Town boss Paul Carden says last night’s 1-0 win at Stourbridge showed the togetherness his side has.

Substitute Ruben Jerome grabbed the winner five minutes after coming off the bench at the War Memorial Ground to close the gap between Yellows and an Evo-Stik Premier Division play-off place to just five points.

“I think the whole team apart from Tony McMillan ran over to celebrate with Ruben. It shows what a great spirit and togetherness we have,” Carden said.

“It was the manner of the victory that pleased me most. The way we played in the first half was excellent.

“We created chances and were much the better team. The second half was a bit scrappy and they went more direct but we handled it and scored a great winner.”

Despite playing against Halesowen Town only 48 hours earlier, Carden only made one enforced change to his side as Scott Harries missed the trip due to work commitments.

The Yellows boss hailed the physical condition of his side, especially those who had just returned from injury.

“If you look at Sean Williams who has been out injured for a while, he’s now played three games in six days if you count the Witton cup game as well,” he said.

“Danny Hattersley has also come back and played as if he’d never been away, if anything he’s even stronger.

“Adam Carden was struggling a bit towards the end but our overall fitness levels are superb.”
