THE Gadget Show presenter Jason Bradbury was one of the attractions at a celebration event at South Cheshire College.

The STEM Festival celebrated the re-accreditation of the college’s STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics - Assured Status.

Special guest Jason Bradbury, best known for presenting The Gadget Show, was one of the attractions in a sports arena filled with innovative technology.

Hundreds of STEM students, school children and members of the community were invigorated by the interactive displays on offer from the college, their industry partners and HE institutions.

Engineering, science and technology was on display for visitors of the festival to experience.

Students were able to explore the latest developments in two electric cars and also a vehicle from Bentley Motors.

Virtual reality gaming from Staffordshire University and StarDome Planetarium from Techniquest Glyndwr were also among the popular features.

Jason said: “The cutting edge technology at the STEM Festival is a shining example of the advancements that are taking place every day.

“This festival is engaging young minds and sparking new ideas to solve problems and take us forward.”

Pebble Brook Primary School provided a ‘sphero’ football arena, where their pupils supported visitors in controlling iPad operated spheres in a Subbuteo style football tournament.

The college’s centre theatre was host to a series of guest lectures throughout the day including the University of Manchester’s Professor Robert Dryfe’s presentation on Graphene The STEM Festival symbolised the College’s celebration of the renewal of the STEM Assurance, first awarded in 2012. STEM Assured is a leading-edge standard that offers a practical way to validate and benchmark STEM provision and drive innovation.
