CREWE Engineering and Design University Technical College will host an open evening this month.

The £10 million UTC, which teaches students aged 14 to 19 year olds, will host an open evening on March 16 from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

The expansion of the school, which opened six months ago, will be finished in time for the new cohorts this September.

Like all other secondary schools, Crewe E&D UTC teaches the national curriculum with GCSEs and A Levels in Maths, English, Geography, Languages and Design as well as offering options in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects.

Students are also able to gain hands on experience with the latest developments in technology, such as virtual welding and 3D printing.

David Terry, principal of Crewe Engineering and Design UTC, said: “This open evening is a great opportunity for all parents and students to come and understand what we are all about.

“We offer a real choice for students in Cheshire, Stoke and Staffordshire to make a positive decision about education and take a step towards a career in engineering, which statistically speaking is one of the highest paid sectors in business.”

Crewe Engineering and Design UTC now offers a more extensive spectrum of courses, with the introduction of new courses like, Health and Social Care, 3D Art and Graphic Design and Materials Technology.

Students benefit from gaining unique experience working with local employers on projects, through mentoring by experts in the STEM field.

Mr Terry added: “We invite parents to come and see our state-of-the-art facilities, as well speak to our employer partners, so they can understand the future careers available for their children.

“For students, we want them to understand the range of options available to them and learn about the unique experience they will gain by working on real life projects with industry experts.”
