FIREFIGHTERS were called to Nantwich twice yesterday.

Four fire engines from Nantwich, Crewe, Alsager and Winsford were sent to Jubilee Gardens at 5.53pm to reports of a fire in a ground floor flat.

When they arrived, crews found that the fire, involving a cooker, had gone out but had filled the flat with smoke.

They cleared the smoke from the flat with a large fan and one man was treated for smoke inhalation.

While firefighters were dealing with the flat fire, another crew from Audlem was sent to a fire in London Road where they dealt with a car fire.
