REASEHEATH College principal Meredydd Davies, MBE, has been made a Fellow of the Royal Agricultural Society (RAgS), following the college’s contribution to agricultural progress within the UK.

Mr David was awarded the honour at the House of Lords by Rosie Carne, the current chairman of the RAgS council.

The college has been recognised for the service it provides to the farming community, and to the development of agricultural education.

Meredydd, who was nominated by existing Fellows, said: “I was very surprised and honoured to have been selected for this Fellowship.

“This is very much Reaseheath’s achievement and is entirely due to the fantastic work the college does for the agricultural industry nationwide.”

The college has been a leader in its field since the 1920s, with a particular expertise in dairy production. There are currently 370 students enrolled on agricultural degrees and diplomas.

Its farm has had significant investment into its infrastructure and machinery, ensuring that all students gain experience in using the latest technology.

Reaseheath’s Agricultural Development Academy offers an information hub for farmers and growers and aims to improve the profitability and efficiency of farming and food production businesses by delivering high quality knowledge transfer.

Established in 1834, RAgS promotes the scientific development of agriculture and in particular the transfer of scientific knowledge to agricultural practitioners.
