AN Olympic great has been confirmed as guest speaker for an annual business dinner.

Steve Cram will speak at the South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce dinner at Crewe Hall on Thursday, June 29.

Steve, nicknamed ‘The Jarrow Arrow’ after his hometown, became the first man to run 1,500m in under three minutes and set three world record in 1985.

The dinner has returned to the events calendar for 2017 and organisers have announced the appearance of the record-breaking runner.

Daryl Williams, chambers events co-ordinator, said: “Steve Cram is one of the world’s most successful middle distance runners of all time.

“Since retiring he has become one of the BBC’s most respected presented and is busy on the corporate scene as a motivational speaker.

“He is highly sought after as an Olympian after dinner speaker and it is a real scoop for the camber to introduce him to the business community.

“It means the annual dinner can return in style after a gap of three years and our aim is to make it a truly memorable night.”

The dinner will take place in the hotel’s Long Gallery and will include a drinks reception and three-course meal.

The event’s main sponsors are two high-profile chamber members, Handelsbanken and Assurant, with other companies also involved in staging the night , including Pure PR and Code Audio Visual.

The event is open to everyone in the south Cheshire business community and limited sponsorship opportunities still remain.
