LEIGHTON Hospital has not been directly affected by the NHS cyber-attack, but had to isolate itself from partner organisations.

NHS organisations across the country have been hit by a cyber-attack on their IT systems since Friday last week, including some organisations in Cheshire such as East Cheshire NHS Trust and Cheshire and Wirral Partnership.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Leighton Hospital as well as Victoria Infirmary in Northwich and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, has now confirmed that it has ‘isolated itself’ from affected organisations.

Tracy Bullock, chief executive, said: “We are currently checking all our layers of protection in our system and so far have found no issue or impact on the Trust from the cyber-attack.

“However, the Trust has had to isolate itself from other organisations who are known to be, or are likely to be affected. This will therefore impact on the levels of communications and correspondence that comes in and out of the Trust.”
