CROWDS flocked to Westminster Park at the weekend for Cheshire East Council's 'The Great Get Together’.

Community groups and neighbours attended the event to honour the memory of murdered MP Jo Cox.

The council made £15,000 available for community groups to apply for grants of up to £100 to come together and hold street parties and community events.

The aim was to encourage residents across the borough to join together, in their communities, to share food, conversation and celebrate what they have in common.

The events on Saturday and Sunday marked the first anniversary of the murder of Batley and Spen MP Jo Cox on June 16, 2016 and celebrated her belief that we have more in common than divides us.

Sixty-seven grant applications were successful.
