POLICE are warning residents to be on their guard against thieves.
Steps to deter ‘sneak-in’ burglaries have been issues by Cheshire Police due to an increase in the problem during the warmer weather.
Residents are advised to ensure all windows are closed and locked, that external doors are secure, valuables are kept out of sight, and to keep an eye on your neighbourhood.
Supt Martin Cleworth said: “It only takes a matter of seconds for a thief to get into your house and grab something that is valuable to you.
“The same goes for leaving your car unattended with the windows open, don’t leave valuables on display and don’t wind your windows down fully.
“We are committed to tackling this type of crime but we need the continued support of members of the public.”
If you have any information in relation to burglaries in your area call Cheshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
