SCHOOLCHILDREN have left a lasting legacy in Willaston after burying a time capsule at a new housing development.

Youngsters from Willaston Primary Academy have gathered a collection of stories and pictures about their home and school life in a stainless steel capsule at the Anwyl Homes site, in Eastern Road.

With the help of their teachers, 62 pupils used the project to highlight what they like about living in Willaston, their favourite school subjects, and what hobbies they enjoy.

Eight pupils were then invited onto the site to help Steve Daniels, safety, health, environment and quality advisor at Anwyl Homes, bury the capsule.

Clare Grehan, headteacher at Willaston Primary, said: “We were delighted to be asked to take part in such an exciting project and the children were thrilled to see their stories and pictures go into the capsule which was then buried in the ground at Willow Grange.

“We’re very close to the development and it has been lovely for our pupils to have the opportunity to leave this legacy and say that they took part in an activity that may be discovered by future children in many years to come.”

Mathew Anwyl, housing managing director at Anwyl Homes, added: “We’re delighted that the children from Willaston Primary Academy wanted to take part in the time capsule project and their stories and drawings are now safely buried in a top secret location at Willow Grange.”
