MARKET Street in Crewe was cordoned off today after a chimney pot fell into the road.

Firefighters were called just before 10am and an aerial ladder platform was sent from Chester to assist in making the building safe.

A spokesman from Cheshire Fire Service said: "Firefighters were called to a chimney pot which had fallen onto the road below and one still on a roof in an unsafe position.

"The aerial ladder attended and crews removed debris and the chimney pot.

"The road was cordoned off by police while the incident was dealt with."
