SEVEN councillors are today expected to discuss the future of Mike Suarez, Cheshire East Council’s suspended chief executive.
The council’s investigation and disciplinary committee will reconvene in Macclesfield Town Hall at 10.30am on Thursday, September 7.
It is the same committee which took the decision to suspend Mr Suarez in April, following a two-day hearing, while an independent investigation was launched into ‘officer conduct’.
The committee has since reconvened on May 5, June 22 and July 14 prior to today’s meeting.
Conservative CEC members Cllr Ainsley Arnold, Cllr Barry Moran, Cllr Howard Murray and Cllr Margaret Simon are all expected to attend.
Cllr Janet Jackson, Labour member, Cllr Rod Fletcher, leader of the Liberal Democrat group, and Cllr Barry Burkhill, leader of the independent group, are also expected to attend.
Both the press and public have been excluded to each of the committee meetings.
A spokesman at Cheshire East Council said that the details of today’s meeting were not known as the Guardian went to press.
The spokesman added that it was not yet known if there would be further meetings of the investigation and disciplinary committee following this morning’s.
