Crews were called to Coronation Street
RESIDENTS were evacuated just before midnight last after firefighters were called out to tackle three wheelie bins on fire in Coronation Street, Crewe.
On arrival crews found the bins were well alight and used a hose reel jet to put out the fire.
On inspection of the surrounding area crews found that a gas pipe had been damaged by the fire and crews then evacuated the residents in Coronation Street until a gas engineer isolated the gas main.
Residents have returned to their properties, and an investigation into the cause of the fire is under way.
