A 12-YEAR-OLD showjumper from Nantwich has claimed a sensational third major title of the season.

Madison Heath was on incredible form when she stormed to victory in the 138cm Championship at the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS), held at the NEC in Birmingham on Sunday, October 8.

Five combinations from the 19 starters made it through to the final jump-off round. Madison was riding her trusty steed, Sonas Barney (the 2015 138cm Horse of the Year Show champion with Nicole Lockhead-Anderson).

Jake Mayers on ‘The Agent’ set the pace, clocking an impressive 35.48 seconds. However, Madison took charge and stormed to victory, finishing two seconds ahead, in a clear time of 33.6 seconds.

Madison said: “I always feel confident with Barney - he is amazing! I knew we could do it, especially as he won here two years ago with Nicole.”

"I try to think that I’m at home jumping and just focus on the pony. I was so determined to win – I wasn’t going to take second for an answer – I’m so happy that I actually managed to do it.”

It has been an incredible season for the talented duo, who have won three major titles, including Bolesworth International in June and the BS National Showjumping Championships in August.

Madison will now focus her efforts on preparing for the English Home Pony 2017, which takes place later this month at South View Equestrian Centre.

This is a particularly important competition as she has been shortlisted to jump here for the England pony team, and it will be her final major event competing on her trusted 138cm ponies Barney and Jacaloupe, before she progresses to the 148cm pony class.
