A GROUP for youngsters with special educational needs has won a one-of-a-kind shed for its members.

The Wishing Well project, in Crewe, is the new home of the bespoke Volkswagen Campervan shed.

Jan Melia, SEN young people's lead at Wishing Well, said: "They are a fabulous group of young people and take part in all sorts of activities, from making and selling bacon butties to filling planters to brighten up the local community.

"Wishing Well is a busy place, with all sorts of groups using the facility and I felt my young people would really benefit from a quiet space to call their own, that’s why I nominated them to win the VW Campervan shed.

"They’re going to be making seating and a table to really make the shed their own."

The shed was donated to Swansway Motor Group in Crewe, by Olympian Sheds, based in Sandbach.

Swansway then commissioned Spencer Skinner, a freelance artist to make the shed into an iconic VW Campervan, before asking for nominations from local groups to win the shed.

Karen Walker, Swansway's corporate social responsibility manager, added: "This shed is something you simply couldn’t buy, it’s a one-off and Jan’s nomination, outlining what her wonderful young people were going to use the shed for and how they were going to make it their own was inspirational.

"We know that it’s it gone to a really good home and both Swansway and Olympian Sheds are looking forward to seeing just what these young people can do to make it even more unique."
