VANDALS slashed the tyres of a police car in Crewe while it was parked at the side of the road.

Three tyres were slashed while parked in Claughton Avenue at 5.39pm on Wednesday, November 8, while an officer was carrying out enquiries as part of an ongoing investigation at a nearby property.

The damage meant the car had to be towed away for repair – taking an emergency vehicle off the road for the rest of the night.

Det Insp Claire Jesson said: “This mindless attack has resulted in one less police car on the streets of Crewe and a police officer tied up dealing with the criminal damage instead of responding to emergencies.

“I would urge anyone with any information in relation to the incident to contact the team here in Crewe on 101, quoting incident number 633 of November 8, so that the people responsible for this can be brought to justice.”

Information can also be passed on anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
