DETECTIVES in Crewe are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a stabbing took place in Crewe.

Between 8pm and 8.15pm on Wednesday, 21 February a 27-year-old man was in a dark coloured car on Catherine Street when he was approached by an unknown man. The offender spoke to the victim very briefly before he was seriously assaulted in an unprovoked attack.

The victim remains at Leighton Hospital where his injuries are serious but not life threatening.

Detective Inspector Claire Jesson, of Crewe CID, said: “Firstly, I want to reassure the local community that this is believed to be an isolated incident and a thorough investigation is currently underway to establish the circumstances and find the person responsible.

“I want to encourage anyone who saw any males on Catherine Street, near to the junction of Edward Street in Crewe between 8pm and 8.15pm, to contact me on 101.”

Anyone who has any information is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident 927 of 21 February.
