AIR quality management areas (AQMA) where pollution levels exceed UK limits are set for renewed council action.

A review of Cheshire East Council's air quality action plan covering the 18 AQMAs will allow residents to sign up and have their say.

The affected areas include Crewe and Nantwich, as well as Congleton, Disley, Knutsford, Macclesfield, Bollington, Mere, Middlewich and Sandbach.

CEC's current air quality action plan – a statutory document – has been in place since 2011 and is now up for review.

A series of workshops will now allow the borough's residents to have their say on what issues need addressing.

A council spokesman said: "Cheshire East Council has 18 air quality management areas where pollution levels exceed UK limits – and the responsibility of improving this is a key priority for the authority.

"The council strongly believes that residents will have a valuable input in contributing to the revised action plan.

"Cheshire East is planning to hold a number of early-evening action-planning workshops during April and May.

"We welcome anyone with an interest regarding air quality in the areas listed above to register to attend. These ideas will be considered and where possible, included in the review of the action plan."

To register your interest, email airquality@cheshireeast.gov.uk or call 0300 123 5015 before Sunday April 15, with your name, address and which of the areas listed above you are interested.

Once the council has details of those who wish to attend, invitations to the relevant workshops for each area will be sent out.
