CARE village Belong Crewe will play host on Saturday to more than 20 community organisations, including Crewe Brass Band, charities and police and fire services as part of an open day to celebrate its selection as a ‘Connected Communities Centre’.

Events will include musical performances and presentations from exhibiting organisations.

There will also be an array of exotic world food served up as part of the NAPA (National Activity Providers Association) Challenge 2018, the theme of which is ‘a food journey around the Commonwealth’.

The Connected Communities open day will also coincide with National Care Home Open Day, so members of the public will also get the chance to see for themselves the village’s facilities and range of accommodation and support options on specially-organised tours.

The Connected Communities scheme by Cheshire East Council seeks to deliver the right services, in the right places, at the right time, designating existing local venues for community engagement and events to bring diverse groups of people together.

On the day, Councillor Janet Clowes, cabinet member for adult social care and integration, will unveil a plaque to mark the care village’s role as a Connected Communities Centre.

Councillor Clowes said: “Belong, Crewe is a fantastic venue for one of our Connected Communities centres offering a great range of services and activities for the whole community. The open day is set to be an excellent event so please do come along on Saturday and find out more about the great things going on in Crewe.”

Members of the public are encouraged to visit Belong Crewe between 10.30am and 3.30pm to enjoy the day’s events and activities.
