THE Eddisbury MP proudly backs a campaign to raise awareness for the work done by carers in her constituency, and across the country.
Carers Week is an annual campaign to recognise the contribution that the 6.5 million carers in the UK make to families and communities throughout the UK.
Antoinette Sandbach said: “In my constituency, one in eight provide care to a family member or friend. These people are unpaid and support people with disabilities or illnesses who need a helping hand to live their lives to the fullest.”
“Over half of carers can find it a challenge to find time to take care of themselves and they are more likely to experience stress, anxiety and other mental illnesses.
“If you care for someone then please think about how you could look after your health.”
A public consultation was held to hear from carers directly and will be looking at a new strategy in the coming months.
