A SCHOOLGIRL from Winsford refused to have a birthday party so she could concentrate on training and fundraising for an intense charity challenge.
10-year-old Maddie Rowlands is taking on the ‘Three Peaks Challenge’ with her dad Gavin on June 23 to raise £1000 for the children’s ward at Leighton Hospital.
The pair will climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon all in just 24 hours.
The hospital’s Children and Adolescent Unit in Crewe provided care for her eldest brother, Jayden, since he was five months old and this is the family’s way of saying thank you.
Carole Salmon, community fundraiser for Mid Cheshire Hospital Charity, said: “From the moment I met Maddie I was so impressed with her drive and enthusiasm for her fundraising challenge.
“Her whole family is passionate about supporting the children’s ward as a thank you for all the continuing care and attention they have received.”
