AMERICAN chain Subway has revealed plans to open 75 new stores and create 750 new jobs in the north west.

Subway in Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire and Cumbria has set out ambitious targets for new store development with plans to grow its portfolio of stores from 215 to almost 300 by the end 2023.

Subway stores are owned by local franchisees who currently employ more than 2,000 people in the region.

Neil Denny, regional development agent, said: “We have ambitious plans to grow Subway in the region so I am really keen to hear from local people who are looking to fulfil their dreams of owning their own businesses and becoming their own boss.

“Subway offers an excellent opportunity for ambitious individuals keen to join a world-renowned brand with a tried and tested franchise model.

“Many of our franchisees start out with little or no experience in the food industry, but all possess a strong work ethic, customer-service focus and a passion for Subway."

All new franchisees are given extensive training and are provided with ongoing support and guidance.

The new stores are also expected to have a new look after the fast food outlet unveiled their 'Fresh Forward' store decor last year.

Changes include digital menu boards, free-to-use charging ports and special displays for the brand’s cookies, breads and vegetables.

Across the UK and Ireland, Subway has plans to increase the number of Subway stores to 3,000 by 2020, creating around 5,000 new jobs.
