AUDIO recordings of Cheshire East Council meetings will continue to be broadcast online after members agreed to continue with the current system.

The council launched audio recordings in the 2017-18 municipal year, having previously only broadcast videos of cabinet meetings.

Brian Reed, head of democratic services and governance at CEC, told the constitution committee on Thursday that the recordings have been well-received.

“We had last week 734 individuals listen to the minutes,” he said.

“We have ramped up coverage out there for people who can’t get here from very low numbers to a really helpful picture of how the story of CEC is being played out literally.”

Members unanimously agreed to maintain the service, which costs £3,900 a year
