NORTHWICH Rotarians did their bit for their local environment during a nationally organised litter pick.

On Saturday, September 15, Rotary Clubs across the UK took to the streets armed with litter pickers and bin bags removing plastics and other litter in a bid to keep the streets, public spaces and watercourses free from rubbish.

The Rotary Club of Northwich were joined by Northwich town councillors for the event, which saw them clean up several areas in Winnington and collect more than 20 bags of rubbish.

Rotarian Rupert Adams said: “We’re committed to improving our environment and routinely remove rubbish from areas of public space.

“We were delighted to be able to offer our support to clean up streets around Winnington Lane last Saturday and were encouraged by the number of pedestrians and residents who spoke to us and said thank you.

“In just a couple of hours we collected over 20 large bin bags of rubbish,

much of which was plastic waste, so the effort was particularly

worthwhile.”
