At 3:20pm the traffic came to a stop after a traffic police car sped past us on the M6 Northbound. I was very near to the front of the queue and we were stopped for 2 hrs 30. At 5:50pm they moved all of the emergency vehicles that were left further down the hard shoulder to make room for the queues of traffic to filter around the accident.

From the stories moving down the line in the queue, we heard that 2 people had been walking in the centeral reservation of the motorway between north and southbound, and then one woman made a run for the hard shoulder but managed to get hit by a White VW Polo. This car was badly damaged and the windscreen had the shape of a person moulded into it.

The woman that was hit, was lay on the floor for about 45 mins before she got up and ran across the Southbound lanes which were at the time still moving, but soon got closed to. I did not hear that the other person (which I had thought was male) got hit but we all knew that there was at least one casualty.

An Air ambulance then picked up one woman and left the other with a road ambulance. Southbound was then re opened 1 hour later once the helicopter left, while we in Northbound were still parked up awaiting some news.

I was very relieved when we were allowed to go as we had no food or drink around. If we were told that we would not be moving for over 2 hours we could have walked the 100yards back to Keele Services and bought something, but we kept hearing rumours that we were about to move, but we never did.

I was near the front too we had a wedding to attend when suddently all cars came to standstill and the next thing we saw was an air ambulance, my cousin went to the scene which was approxamtly 400 meters infront and said there was a lady in her 30's lying flat on her stomach with her legs mangled and unconcious. we waited half hour as the accident took place on the other carraige. Once air ambulance left we all were free to move. Got to wedding on time though.. Hope they get well soon.!!

Why do you hope they get well soon. I've just seen it on the TV and I'd be pee'd off if two crazy women had prevented me from going to a wedding. They were selfish women who caused chaos for thousands of people. Not to mention alot of damage to several people's cars.

this is a terrible thing to see and do and all due respect i totaly agree with the person above with there comments that were posted today.

how can you hope they get better soon. whats is the point on giving drug addicts a get well message. they were complete idiots and its the police around them and the drivers that hit the girls i really feel for it must of been horrid and a rubbish situaiton to be in. thankyou to our crimmal justice system. one day in prison.( thats a joke)this should be shown on tv to show people what drugs and stuff can do a person and how they can poision somebody. its digusting to see this. and in all fact well done to the police for their hard work in dealing with this they done a great job and handled that mad women that got up and ran away in a good way. people like that do not deserve second chances.. Well done coppers shows you do a great job.
