VOTERS in Northwich will be heading to the polls in less than a month, and all candidates standing for town council have been announced.

The public will be asked to choose who they want to represent them on Northwich Town Council, as well as Cheshire West and Chester Council, on Thursday, May 4.

There are 21 councillors on the town council, each representing voters in one of five wards: Leftwich; Winnington and Castle; Witton; Greenbank; and Belmont.

The only candidates for Witton Ward are those who already hold seats on the council, meaning the seats are uncontested and they have automatically been duly elected.

Polling stations will open at 7am and close at 10pm, and voters will be asked - for the first time in British history - to show photographic ID before they are allowed to cast their vote
