A CHESHIRE leisure centre has been named the best in the north.
Staff at Winsford Lifestyle Centre are in celebration mode after being crowned the North’s ‘Regional Centre of the Year’ at the UKactive Awards.
Matthew Parker, Brio Leisure’s managing director, was over the moon with the result.
He said: “We are delighted that Winsford Lifestyle Centre won the Regional Club of the Year award.
“The award is a testament to all the people who make the facility great – this includes our wonderful staff and loyal customers.
“The diverse range of health and wellbeing activities and services provided at Winsford Lifestyle Centre are specifically programmed so that they cater for the whole community.
"Whenever I set foot into the building I am amazed at the warm, welcoming, safe yet vibrant environment that greets me.”

The Brio Leisure team attended the UKactive Awards ceremony in Leeds on October 26.
The company, which also manages the likes of Northwich Memorial Court, was also nominated for Marketing Campaign of the Year.
However, they were beaten to the prize by Anytime Fitness UK, which operates more than 170 gyms in the UK, including branches in Knutsford and Warrington.
Huw Edwards, CEO of UKactive, said: “The UKactive Awards are a real opportunity to come together and celebrate all the great work our sector does, day in and day out and the celebrations were felt throughout the night.
“The finalists this year have showcased some amazing ways that our sector not only unites communities but really furthers the health and wellbeing of our nation.
“A huge thank you to all of the winners, finalists and supporters who made the night one to remember.”
Winsford Lifestyle Centre recently underwent a refurbishment and, following customer feedback, is now home to an additional gym space called ‘The Box’.
Meanwhile, staff can often be seen at many nearby events and fundraisers, such as the Race for Life at Delamere Forest where they delivered the warm-up.
The centre is also supported by many local groups and organisations, including Winsford Amateur Swimming Club, Motherwell Cheshire, Wellbeing Winsford, Winsford Town Council, Winsford Care Community, and Cheshire West and Chester Council.
Kerry Goryl, operations director, said: “Winsford Lifestyle Centre winning Centre of the year is an incredible achievement.
“We were up against some excellent leisure facilities in the North of England, so to be named the best centre in the region is fantastic.
“The team has worked extremely hard to attract and accommodate new and existing users since the Covid-19 pandemic, which has seen the centre really thrive and establish itself as a key focal point within the heart of the community.”
